After almost two weeks of exciting revelations, the 86th annual Geneva International Motor Show is over. One of the main highlights was undoubtedly the unveiling of SEAT’s first ever SUV, the SEAT Ateca.

SEAT’s new Chairman of the Executive Committee, Luca de Meo, presented the new SEAT Ateca to an eager audience in the Geneva Palexpo after a long awaited lead up to one of the biggest recent events in the brand’s calendar. SEAT’s first ever SUV took centre stage with the SEAT Alhambra 20th Anniversary also deservedly sharing the limelight.

The SEAT Ateca comes with the latest technology from SEAT, such as the Driver Experience Button, Traffic Jam Assist and a Wireless Charger. Everything needed from a car that aims to streamline and take the stress out of the everyday.

Luca de Meo said of the New SEAT Ateca:
“The essential role of this car will be to help the brand take a further step forward in terms of image. [The] ATECA will cover a steadily growing sub-segment in Western Europe in recent years.”

Dr. Matthias Rabe, Executive Vice-President of SEAT, S.A. for Research and Development added:
“The ATECA shows the clear evolution of SEAT characteristic design language. It’s clearly recognisable as a SEAT; every element has been carefully redesigned for an SUV. The design is sculptural and full of tension, it’s been created with precision and quality in every detail, with the enormous passion and expertise of all involved.”

The SEAT Ateca has been designed with sharp lines and taut curves that have evolved from the Leon’s design. It is undoubtedly a statement of intention from SEAT and can be regarded as the third pillar of the brand alongside the Ibiza and the Leon. It is hoped that this SUV will make SEAT a strong competitor within the crossover segment.

The SEAT Alhambra 20th Anniversary also impressed onlookers. The most spacious and of SEAT’s line-up celebrates 20 years in style after two decades of great versatility and performance. This edition comes with 17-inch alloy wheels in high gloss black, Xenon headlamps, tinted side and rear windows and a large panorama, glass sliding roof. The interior combines elegance and practicality with the latest technology and maximum comfort in the form of high quality Alcantara upholstery and front sports seats with massage function.

On top of these exciting new releases, SEAT also revealed its continuing financial successes with a positive sales performance after a third consecutive year of sales increases.

Overall, this year’s Geneva International Motor Show was a resounding success, full of exciting announcements from SEAT, the biggest of which came in the form of the New SEAT Ateca. With three more major motor shows to look forward to this year, there will surely be a lot more excitement to follow.
